The city has a vibrant music scene, from pub gigs of local bands to famous bands concerts on The Stadium of Light. In recent years, it hosted concerts from bands such as Kings of Leon, Oasis, Pink, Take That, Foo Fighters, Black Eyed Peas.

The nearest airport is Newcastle International Airport, the 10th busiest airport in the UK. Reaching Sunderland by train takes 3 hours (National Railway) from London Kings Cross.

The city has an excellent and inexpensive bus and metro service which makes it easy to get around.
