How to support your child on the journey to study in the UK

It's Hard To Keep In Touch

As long as you have a good relationship with your child, it’s not possible to have it damaged by the physical distance. Many students actually report the opposite effect. Spending some time on their own, they find themselves having a much better relationship with parents or siblings after a period of separation. Having the opportunity to miss their parents and extended family, coming back home for holidays it’s a good opportunity to re-connect and view family values and traditions through a different lens. Being away for a while from a certain environment enables people to be more objective about the good and not-so-good sides and to have an overview perspective on everything.

Fortunately, modern technology makes it possible for you to regularly keep in touch with your son/ daughter easily and without spending a fortune. Even if you’re not internet savvy, applications such as Skype or Facebook are easy to use and allow you to talk to your child at no extra cost, as long as both of you have access to the internet.
