The BSc (Hons) Sports and Live Events Television is for students who aspire to work in multi-camera live broadcast environments, from covering sports and music to quiz shows, game shows, chat shows and news production. This course combines television production skills (camera, lighting, sound editing, production management) with computing skills, making it technically challenging. However, the broad range of skills and knowledge the programme will equip you with will make you highly employable once you graduate.

What will this course cover?

This course will balance the theory and practice of outside broadcast production, information technology, systems and software engineering. The technical elements have been underpinned by professional certification programmes including Microsoft, Hewlett Packard (HP) and Cisco, which you will have the opportunity to complete during the course.

This programme builds on our strong reputation in this field and has been designed in consultation with industry partners such as NEP Visions, CTV, VizRT, Chyron Hego, Deltatre, IMG and Telegenic. Throughout the course you will benefit from our strong professional network and sector links, such as our connections with BBC Introducing, Reading FC and Watford FC. We teach in professional standard recording and filmmaking facilities, and students will also have access to our outside broadcast truck for productions such as filming Championship football on location at the Madejski stadium. As well as practical workshops and seminars, we have professional masterclasses, guest speakers, and work placement opportunities designed to prepare you for a career in this industry.
