How do I open a bank account in the UK?

Opening a bank account in the UK is quite simple, especially when you are a student. Generally, your university will have some partnership with one of the British banks, and during your Enrollment Week they will be giving out application forms so you can get yourself a bank account.

If you move to the UK way before your Enrollment Week, then you can visit any nearby bank office, and they will give you a list of documents and information you will need to provide to open a bank account in their bank. One of the documents that the bank will ask is called "Bank Letter" which is a letter from your university which confirms that you are enrolled on a course at this university. You can check out Lloyds Bank, Santander, HSBC, etc.

It's worth checking out student promotions. Many banks during the beginning of the academic year will be offering good deals to university students.

Further information, you can always ask your student adviser.
